Jan Kasofsky, Ph.D.
Executive Director
Capital Area Human Services District

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our website, created to provide information about important available human services in the Capital area region. Whether you are a consumer, caregiver or professional seeking resources, we hope this user-friendly tool will help guide you to more readily accessible important information about services for people dealing with mental health, substance abuse/addictions and/or developmental disabilities issues.

Capital Area Human Services District includes the seven parishes of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana. As you explore this site, you will be able to find out specific services offered, hours of operation and telephone numbers in order to directly contact the provider in or near your community.

Our staff is committed to the Agency’s mission to facilitate person-centered recovery by empowering people with chronic behavioral health and developmental disability challenges to strengthen relationships, establish independence, and enhance their ability to improve their physical health and emotional wellbeing. It is with this in mind that we encourage you to call on us to help you, a family member, friend or client.

Our Board of Directors and staff hold fast to the belief that services should be equitable across our seven parishes and so are available in rural as well as urban settings. We rely on you to let us know how to serve your community. I invite you to give our team input to help guide us to develop services where those in need of mental health, addictive disorders and/or developmental disabilities services might comfortably and confidentially work towards a better quality of life.

I hope this website proves helpful to you and I welcome your input and suggestions.

Sincerely,

Jan Kasofsky, Ph.D.
